Mission Statement

The mission of Visitation Catholic School is to inspire excellence and to develop future leaders

for Christ, through quality education grounded in Catholic values, principles, and traditions.

Recognition by the State of Illinois

Visitation Catholic School obtained Full Recognition by the State of Illinois under the guidelines

for Recognition of Non-Public Elementary Schools. The school has met the standards set by the

Illinois State Board of Education and fulfilled application requirements. The school is also full

accredited by AdvancEd.

Admission Policy

• Admission for New Students: All parents and students are made aware that the basic purpose

of Visitation Catholic School is for Catholic Formation within a Christian Community inspired by

faith, as well as for the academic development of students. Admission to Visitation Catholic

School usually occurs at the beginning of the school year. New parish families are accepted at

the time of application, if there is space available.

In the case of a waiting list, parents of potentially new students will meet with the Pastor and the

• Principal before a decision for entry is made. Possible criteria used for entry might include:

Does the family have other students attending Visitation Catholic School? Is the family actively

participating in a Catholic Parish of the Diocese of Peoria? Does the family plan to continue

having their child enrolled at Visitation Catholic School past this school year? While this

information does not preclude entry into the school, it will help when making decisions about

acceptance.

• Transfer students must also meet with the Pastor and/or Principal before admittance. The

student’s cumulative records must be requested from the school last attended. Final decision

about acceptance is usually not made until these records have been viewed.

Non-Discrimination in Admission Policies

• Visitation Catholic School is in compliance with all federal and state nondiscrimination and equal

opportunity laws and regulations regarding admission as stated in the Commission on

Education policies of the Diocese of Peoria.

• No student shall be refused admission to Visitation Catholic School on the basis of race, color,

sex, ethnic origin, or disability (when with minor adjustments on the part of the school, the

disabled person could be accommodated).

• No registered, practicing member of Saint John Paul II Parish or other local Catholic parishes,

who is interested in the educational programs of Visitation Catholic School, will be denied

participation because of financial need.

Visitation Catholic School accepts students from ALL backgrounds and of ANY denomination.
