Art League
Visitation School Art League Information
The Visitation School Art League is open to any student enrolled at Visitation School who is in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth grade. There will not be a membership fee, although activities are being planned to secure resources. Participants in the League are subject to the same eligibility requirements for extra-curricular activities as listed in the Visitation School Student Handbook.
Currently, the goal of the Art League is for members to attend a special event related to visual and/or performing arts in the spring. Along the way to reaching this goal, students will be able to experience art first hand through school activities, above and beyond classroom work, such as decorating for the Christmas and Spring Programs and preparing for the Art Fair. In an effort to maintain equality, the following point system has been devised. For their effort, each member will be awarded 10 points for each hour they work, unless otherwise noted. In order for students to have the opportunity to take part in the special event in the spring, each member will need to accumulate at least 100 points. Because attendance at meetings is important, each one is worth 5 points. Points will not be deducted for absences, but only 2 unexcused misses will be allowed. Likewise, if a member doesn’t fulfill a work commitment on two occasions without an acceptable excuse, they will be dismissed from the League. There will be an award given for the member who accumulates the highest number of points for the year.
